The Business Education Services and Training Unit of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry will host the 2021 Lagos International Investment Conference with the theme, “Repositioning Nigeria as a Key Global Investment Destination” on Tuesday, 9th November, 2021 at 10a.m.

The event which is virtual will provide a veritable platform for a mutually beneficial exchange between local and international investors with a focus on the prospects of investing in the Nigerian economy and address policy issues that can enhance the flows of foreign direct investments (FDIs) into the Nigerian economy. It will particularly focus on investment opportunities in the Nigerian non-oil sector and the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) as a key driver of FDI inflows into Africa in general and Nigeria in particular.

Objectives of LIIC 2021

Some of the objectives this year’s investment conference will seek to achieve include the following:

  1. Provide opportunities for deal making between local and international investors

  2. Institutionalize a mechanism for annual consultations and mutually beneficial exchange between local and international investors, on the one hand, and key public sector players in the investment ecosystem in Nigeria, on the other.

  3. Facilitate the removal of impediments to local capital formation and entrepreneurial aspirations.

  4. Expand access to finance to local businesspeople and investors

  5. Enhance the visibility of Lagos State and indeed Nigeria as a key destination for both foreign portfolio and foreign direct investment (FDI)

  6. Address issues germane to the competitiveness of Nigeria as an investment destination in Africa

  7. Provide opportunity for networking and business-to-business meetings among local and international businesspeople and investors.

Renowned, notable international and national speakers from the African Export-Import (Afrexim) Bank, the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET), FMDQ OTC Securities Exchange and Flutterwave, a leading African payment gateway company, will make presentations at the event.

The Honorable Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Amb. Maryam Katagum is expected to declare the event open as the Guest of Honour.
